Costs & Scholarships

Cost

The cost to attend FTE residential student programs is $2,300 which includes room and board. Students are responsible for their own transportation costs to and from the program location.

FTE virtual student programs cost $800.

Cancellation Policy

Full tuition is due at the time of enrollment. For participants who voluntarily withdraw, refunds will be made according to the FTE stated refund policy and schedule. The registration fee will be refunded 50% for cancellations made prior to May 17, 2024. After May 17, no refunds will be issued.

Scholarship Information

FTE strives to make programs accessible and affordable to the best and brightest students, regardless of financial status. Scholarship funding is awarded based on a combination of factors, including:

  • Financial need
  • Leadership activities
  • Academic and extracurricular achievement
  • Site selection

Scholarship assistance typically ranges from $100 to $1500 for residential programs and from $100 to $400 for virtual programs. Please note that full-tuition scholarships are extremely rare, and requests for assistance based strictly on merit are generally not considered.

Students are only eligible to receive scholarship funding for one FTE program during the course of their high school career. If a student is attending more than one program in a given year, funding will only be applied to one program.

Scholarship requests for program sites that are significantly distant, particularly when a closer site is available near your home, may not receive as favorable consideration. For instance, if you reside in California, seeking financial assistance to attend EFL at UCLA would generally have a higher likelihood of receiving aid compared to requesting assistance for EFL at Yale University.

To Request Scholarship Assistance

To apply, complete the scholarship section in the Student Application. We review scholarship requests alongside program admission. Expect admission and award notifications via email approximately three weeks after submission of your complete application.
