The following policies and expectations govern FTE Teacher Programs. Please refer to the information below and reach out to information@fte.org with any questions.
Residential Programs
Admissions Guidelines – Residential Programs
Priority registration is given to current high school, middle school, and college-level teachers, pre-service teachers/students, curriculum directors, and/or principals and who have not attended the same program in the past 2 years. Preference will be given to active teachers in the classroom.
Elementary and substitute teachers will be placed on the waitlist and will be admitted on a case-by-case basis. We are unable to accept retired or homeschool teachers at this time.
Waitlist status notifications will be provided four weeks in advance of the program start date.
Registration Fees and Refunds – Residential Programs
There is a $200 registration fee for all residential teacher programs. This fee is payable upon registration and guarantees your spot in the program.
Registrants may have the option to bring a spouse/guest with them to share their room (site permitting). If this option is available, registrants will be able to select this in the application. The registration fee covers a single room at the program for the dates of the program only.
If your plans change and you need to cancel, the registration fee will be refunded 50% for cancellations made prior to the deadline dates listed below. Cancellations after these dates will receive no refund.
- Winter programs (December, January, February) – December 6, 2024
- Spring programs (March, April, May) – February 14. 2025
- Summer programs (June, July, August) – May 16, 2025
- Fall programs (September, October, November) – August 15, 2025
Reach out to information@fte.org for any other payment or refund-related questions.
Attendance and Expectations – Residential Programs
All participants are required to be in attendance for the entire program, and not miss any sessions. Teachers who arrive late, leave early, or are unprofessional/disrespectful to FTE staff or other attendees may be asked to leave the program and will be ineligible to receive their stipend. It is the participant’s responsibility to proactively inform staff of any issues that will impact attendance. FTE staff will be monitoring attendance at sessions carefully.
Travel issues that contribute to late arrivals will be handled on a case-by-case basis; contact FTE at information@fte.org to let us know ASAP of any travel-related issues that will impact your attendance at a program.
Stipends – Residential Programs
Stipend checks will be provided to most eligible attendees at the conclusion of the program; however, stipend checks may not be available by the time of the program for late registrants (those who applied within 3-4 weeks before the start date) or non-U.S. residents. In those cases, checks will either be paid electronically or mailed to attendees within 4-6 weeks of the program end date.
Please note that stipend checks should be treated like cash – lost or stolen checks will not be replaced. Checks are only valid for 90 days after the last date of the program – after 90 days, checks will not be reissued for any reason.
A $600 stipend will be provided for residential program attendance based on the criteria above, unless otherwise noted.
Participant stipends are available for each program every two years. Commuter stipends are available each attendance.
