Staff Spotlight – PC Kate Phuah

Staff Spotlight – Program Coordinator, Kate Phuah

Meet Kate, an alumna of the 2015 Economics for Leaders program in Austin TX, 2016 Leadership Academy in Washington, DC and 2017 Program Coordinator in Training! Kate has been an active participant with FTE and will come back in summer 2018 as a Program Coordinator.

Kate is a sophomore at Texas A&M pursuing a degree in Telecommunications & Media Studies. She has a weekly show for the college radio station and works as a public relations officer for the organization.

Last year she decided to apply as a Program Coordinator in training because she had such an impactful week at her own EFL program. She believes the program is “unlike anything else you will ever have the opportunity of doing in high school. It sets students up for future successes and gives them a multitude of valuable networks”. She encourages others to attend an EFL program because “it’s important for students to know that what they learn inside the classroom actually can be used in the ‘real’ world.”

Personally, Kate enjoys being a Program Coordinator for a number of reasons.

The experience has provided her with a “different perspective on how people interact and how economics plays a role in the decisions we make.”

The people in the programs also play a large part in it’s success and about that she says, “It’s refreshing to be around like-minded individuals who value learning and openness and the bonds and growth made in the course of just one week is so special and exciting to see!”

You can apply to attend one of our programs now and maybe see Kate there! Or if you are an alum and interested in becoming a PC yourself you can APPLY HERE.

As if you need more reasons to apply, PCS will also enjoy the benefits of

1.) Round-trip travel to locations across the country

2.) The opportunity to work and learn from nationally recognized individuals in the fields of economics and leadership.

3.) Meals and accommodations covered by FTE as well as weekly stipend.

Application deadline is January 25!
