Each of the units is comprised of several lessons that include background content outline, student activities and simulations, and source lists. Participants are introduced to the curriculum units through active involvement in lessons and simulations.
Lodging, materials, and most meals are covered by FTE. Registrants are responsible for their own travel costs to and from the program site. All attendees are eligible for a $600 participation stipend and a $150 commuter stipend (if applicable).
All Issues programs qualify for two semester hours of graduate credit in economics through the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, available for an additional fee.
Participants who attend the Economic Issues for Teachers program can expect to receive these benefits:
- Lesson plans on a variety of topics, including international trade, the federal budget, and socialism, that will engage students with the subject matter by examining the economic factors within key global issues
- Ready-made materials to run interactive student activities that correlate with the lesson plans
- Engage in in-depth lectures and activities taught by university professors and experienced mentor teachers
- Valuable time to network and collaborate with other educators
