Aditi Gandhi: Economics for Leaders Virtual Program Alumni

Aditi sat at her desk in Dubai, staring at her computer screen, her fingers hovering over the mouse. The decision to join the Economics for Leaders (EFL) Virtual Program had been an easy one—she loved challenges, and the idea of merging economics with leadership intrigued her. Yet, as the program began, she had no idea just how much it would reshape her perspective. 

From an early age, Aditi’s curiosity knew no bounds. Whether she was painting, singing, or debating in school competitions, she thrived on exploring new ideas and expressing herself. So, when she discovered the EFL Virtual Program, it felt like the perfect opportunity to push her intellectual boundaries further. 

Skeptical at first about how an online format could provide an immersive learning experience, Aditi quickly found herself pleasantly surprised. The program, designed to be interactive and engaging, brought economic concepts to life in ways she had never imagined. 

“The program creatively brought economic concepts to life,” she recalled. “Through interactive activities and games on MobLab, I could truly grasp real-life applications of these concepts.” 

One particular game—the “fish game”—stood out to her. Designed to illustrate the complexities of private and public property rights, it sparked lively discussions and deep insights. Through the game, Aditi experienced firsthand the importance of teamwork, decision-making, and collaboration, making complex theories suddenly feel tangible and real. 

As the days passed, Aditi found herself growing—not just in her understanding of economics but also in her leadership skills. The “Six Domains of Leadership” exercise, in particular, left a profound impact. It pushed her to analyze her strengths and weaknesses, encouraging her to embrace adaptability, empathy, and effective communication. 

“It significantly enhanced my critical thinking and communication skills,” she reflected. As the deputy head girl of her school, Aditi carried these lessons beyond the program, weaving them into her leadership approach and inspiring those around her. 

By the time the program ended, Aditi’s vision for the future had transformed. Economics was no longer just a subject—it was a lens through which she wanted to view and shape the world. 

“The program profoundly shaped my plans for the future,” she admitted. “It was a steppingstone in my academic journey, solidifying my decision to pursue economics as a major.” 

She knew this was just the beginning. Armed with newfound knowledge and leadership skills, she was ready to take on greater challenges, eager to explore the vast possibilities that lay ahead. 

For those considering the EFL Virtual Program, Aditi had one simple message: “Go for it.” 

She encouraged students to dive in with curiosity, ask questions, and embrace new perspectives. “It’s an opportunity to grow intellectually and personally,” she emphasized. “Make the most of it.” 

As an FTE ambassador, Aditi continues to share her story, hoping to inspire other students to embark on their own journeys of learning and leadership. Her experience at the EFL Virtual Program was more than just a course—it was a transformative chapter in her life, one that fueled her passion and set her on a path toward a future brimming with possibilities.
