Safety & Preparedness at UCLA and UC Berkeley
As of June 10, 2025:
Dear Students, Parents & Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. As we prepare to welcome your student to Economics for Leaders at UCLA or UC Berkeley in the coming weeks, we understand that recent news reports about unrest in the Los Angeles and Bay Area may be causing some concern. We want to take a moment to address those concerns directly and share what we know.
We’ve been in close contact with our campus partners at both UCLA and UC Berkeley. We’ve been assured that there are currently no protests or unrest occurring on or near the areas where our programs are held. Both campuses have indicated that summer is typically a very quiet time, as most students are away and university operations are scaled back. Here’s what we’ve been told:
- UCLA has reported that the surrounding neighborhood of Westwood and the campus remain peaceful, and that no protest activity has occurred or is expected in the area. In the unlikely event any demonstration does arise, campus safety officers (UCPD) are trained and prepared to ensure a safe and calm environment for all groups on campus.
- UC Berkeley has similarly confirmed that the campus is quiet and that no demonstrations are currently planned. They noted that any organized activity tends to take place during the academic year when the full student body is present.
We want to reassure you that the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We are continuously monitoring the situation in both cities and remain in regular communication with our campus hosts. Should any circumstances change that would affect the program or your student’s safety, we will notify you immediately.
At this time, we are confident in proceeding as planned with our summer programs.
If you have any specific questions or would like to speak with a member of our team, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are happy to talk through any concerns and provide whatever additional information you need.
Thank you for your trust in us. We look forward to an inspiring, enriching, and safe summer for your student.
Warmly,
Haley Sisler
