Jamie Wagner

Dr. Jamie Wagner is an Associate Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Economic Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. As a faculty member, she teaches undergraduate economics courses using the economic way of thinking to make the classroom content applicable to students. She also directs the Center for Economic Education working with pre-service and K-12 teachers in the Omaha area to assist economic and personal finance instruction through professional development workshops, curriculum development, and one-on-one work with teachers. 

Jamie’s research interests include economic education, economic pedagogy, financial literacy, and assessment techniques. Her research has been published in the Journal for Economic Education, the Journal of Consumer AffairsJournal of Economics Teaching among other journals. 

Dr. Wagner has developed K–12 economics curriculum and has been nationally recognized by the National Association of Economic Educators for her work, including award-winning projects like Entrepreneurship in Your Community: Creating Your Own CareerEthics, Economics, and Social Issues, and Beyond the Bet: Economics of Gambling. She has also written lessons published with FTE including the new Entrepreneurship: Economics of Innovation curriculum, a few lessons about economic institutions, and others. 

She is a dynamic speaker who demonstrates economic and financial literacy concepts through interactive activities including simulations, discussions, and games. Dr. Wagner has been a professor with FTE since 2016. She teaches the Economics for Leaders, Economics for Teachers, and Entrepreneurship in the Global Economy programs and has been a professor for one-day workshops for both teachers and students. She coordinates the FTE Alumni Book Club each fall for teachers across the nation.
