Laura Ahlstrom

Laura Ahlstrom received her Ph.D. in Economic Education from the University of Delaware and is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Oklahoma State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies secondary education and a master’s degree in history. Prior to earning her doctorate, she taught high school social studies, including AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics. Her research specializes in economic education with a focus on the gender gap in undergraduate economics degree attainment. Her scholarly work has appeared in academic journals, such as the American Economics Association Papers and Proceedings, the American Economist, and Perspectives on Economic Education Research. She is also the co-editor of War Movies and Economics: Lessons from Hollywood’s Adaptations of Military Conflicts. In addition, she serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Council on Economic Education.
