Economic Forces in American History Online

Economic Forces in American History Online (EFIAHO) courses are designed for teachers of both economics and history who want to incorporate a historical economic perspective into their classrooms. The lessons and materials are drawn from the FTE’s popular Economic Forces in American History program, introducing and applying the concept of the “economic way of thinking.”

The curriculum is divided into two parts: 

Economic Forces in American History Online: Colonialism – Early 20th Century (EFIAHO Colonialism) covers topics such as indentured servitude, the settling of the American West, the great migration and civil rights, and economic reasoning as a tool of historical inquiry. 

• Purchase or rental of 2 textbooks required 
• Registration Fee: $175 
• Course Length: 8 weeks 
• Prerequisites: none 
• Registration: approximately 20 students per section, first-come first-served, based on receipt of registration payment 
• Optional Graduate Credit: 2 semester hours of graduate credit available from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs for an additional fee of $120/credit unit. 

EFAHO: Early 20th Century – Present covers topics such as the rules of the game, innovation and education, war and the American economy, the great depression, and economic reasoning as a tool of historical inquiry.

• Registration Fee: $225 
• Course Length: 8 weeks 
• Prerequisites: none 
• Registration: approximately 20 students per section, first-come first-served, based on receipt of registration payment 
• Optional Graduate Credit: 3 semester hours of graduate credit available from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs for an additional fee of $120/credit unit. 

Note: The EFAHO courses do not have to be taken in order.
